The Twisp River fire that killed the three firefighters and injured four others on Wednesday started earlier that day about six miles northwest of Twisp, Washington. Pushed by a strong northwest wind, it quickly approached the town which was under an evacuation order along with the city of Winthrop. Thursday morning it is listed at 16,000 acres. As you can see on the map above, that is not the only fire in the area. Within 10 to 40 miles to the east an additional 54,000 acres are on fire.       The alleged gang member who shot a firefighter in a Staten Island home Friday morning, sparking a tense six-hour standoff that culminated with loud blasts and gunfire, is dead, law enforcement sources tell NBC 4 New York.  Garland Tyree, 38, was found dead in the home on Destiny Court in Mariners Harbor after a shootout at about 11:45 a.m., the sources say.   The 20-year-old son of a Swiss millionaire has been sentenced to almost two years probation for trying to scam a new Ferrari sports car.  According to local media reports, he organised arsonists to torch his Ferrari 458 so he could buy the newer model with the insurance payout.  The car, which was one of 15 owned by the un-named man, had an estimated replacement value of close to £200,000.
